African Drumming workshop – provided by Elland Silver Band

Beating out our stress on African Drums with Elland Silver Band!

Martial Arts: Taekwon-Do sessions – provided by Taekwon-do Schools of Excellence (TSX)

The brilliant Elland Academy of TSX provided a demonstration and workshop for all ages!

Calm and Connected movement class – provided by Curel CIC

A taster session of Curel’s unique movement for wellbeing class that they provide on a weekly basis in Elland. Calm and Connected consists of a variety of movement, stretching and breathing techniques to reduce stress, anxiety and pain and promote a feeling of happiness and relaxation.

The Big Yellow Digger goes to Australia – provided by Project 52

Project 52 delivered and a fun and exciting session, using interactive drama, storytelling, music, songs and lights to tell the story of The Big Yellow Digger and its passengers as it travels to Australia. Suitable for disabled people of all ages, children and families (children must be supported and supervised).

Project 52 work with people to have fun and help everyone to communicate better. Come along and join the adventure!

Contemporary Dance class (age 16+) – provided by professional dancer Matt Lackford

A fun and creative form of dance that combines influences from many different styles and cultures and is suitable for everyone. This class explored floorwoork techniques – brilliant for building confidence, body awareness, and great fun!

Drama workshop (age 8+ and adults)  provided by Chol Theatre

A fast-paced drama workshops for complete beginners and experienced performers! Drama games and exercises to help build confidence, increase spatial awareness, relax and have fun!

Performance by Elland Silver Band’s Adult Brass Group

A wonderful performance to celebrate the first year of Welland!

Playback Theatre– provided by Threadbear Theatre

Threadbear Theatre offered their unique Playback Theatre, where the audience tell personal stories around a given theme that are brought to life through drama and music by the performers!

The session for Welland involved getting everyone’s thoughts and feelings on their experience of the day, celebrating all of the different opportunities and finding out what the local community want more of! The stories were hilarious, moving, fun, emotional, poignant, but most of all…focused on how brilliant Elland is!

Stress Bucket workshop (age 16+)  provided by Healthy Minds Calderdale

A ‘ManagingStress‘ workshop from a wonderful Calderdale based charity:

Healthy Minds run a local anxiety and depression support group twice a month in Elland at Southgate Methodist Church and the charity is Calderdale’s only independent, service user led, mental health charity.

Baby Yoga (8 weeks to pre-crawling), Massage (birth to pre-crawling) and Mini Groovers (3 months to 1 year) sessions– provided by Mini Me Time

Perfect for parents and babies to enjoy some time together, have fun and enhance their health and wellbeing! Lindsay runs weekly classes at Creative Learning Private Day Nursery in Elland.


The fun didn’t stop there…

Button Craft workshops– provided by the Craft Locker

Opportunities to get crafty with buttons at Wainwright Hall and also at the Craftlocker’s lovely premises in town!

These workshops coincide with a wonderful project they are running for the whole month of June – Button It – by artists Alice Bradshaw and Vanessa Haley. The project focuses on mental health and engaging the community by inviting anyone and everyone to find themselves a button that represents their story. The buttons will then be exhibited as part of a touring project, with the first showcase at the Craftlocker! Keep an eye on the Craftlocker’s Facebook page and website for further info.
